Brandon Hoelzer with the Ohio Amateur Trophy.

Brandon Hoelzer from Fremont fired four rounds of 68-68-70-67, which put him at 11-under par to win the 2018 Ohio Amateur by six shots over Alex Weiss at Wedgewood Country Club in Dublin. Hoelzer and runner-up Weiss, were the only two players to finish under par for the tournament.

It has been a good year for Hoelzer. Earlier in the year, he paired up with Heatherdowns’ Head Professional, Dan Sutton to win a two-man team event in a Northern Ohio PGA Sectional event at Firestone.

Hoelzer recently graduated from Lourdes University in Toledo and will turn professional later this summer.
