Now that the calendar has turned to February, we are in the Golf Show season. The largest golf show in the world the PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando wrapped up on January 26th and featured over 1,000 vendors introducing the most innovative golf products to over 40,000 attendees.

Several golf shows are held around the state in Columbus, Cleveland and Toledo. This month we are featuring the Toledo Golf Show on the cover. Although it is not one of the biggest golf shows, it is well attended. Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan golf fans can find the best deals on equipment, clubs and travel. Plus, local pros offer tips and area courses are ready to book your league or outing for 2018.

This month’s issue also features several topics in the Ohio Golf News section. John Powers became the new men’s golf head coach at Bowling Green, the USGA has approved of some collaborations among the five golf associations in Ohio, and the Evans Scholars Foundation selected the 20 caddies to receive full-ride Evans Scholarships to attend college this fall.

If you have not had the opportunity to attend an Evans Scholars Selection meeting, I would highly advise you to make an effort to find someone associated with the program and attend at least once. These young people are the cream of the crop and their stories are impressive.

We cannot say enough about the great work the Evans Scholars program does across the country and applaud their efforts to provide nearly 1,000 college scholarships to former caddies.

Mike May’s contribution this month takes us on a trip to southwest England and highlights three courses designed by the great James Braid.

We are one month closer to SPRING, Hope I see you on the Back 9.
