One of the highlights of any Hickory Tournament is the social aspect among the competitors, plus the inspection of hickory golf clubs and swapping among members after the event. Whengolf grewtoprominence in a more gentile era, there were no million-dollar purses and golfers didn’t fly around the world in private jets. It was originally meant to be a means for gentlemen to enjoy a game in the peaceful surroundings of a well-designed golf course. The Michigan Hickory Tour has events scheduled throughout September and October concluding the season with the 14 th annual Mid-Pines Hickory Open, to be held November 10-12 at the iconic Donald Ross designed club in Southern Pines, North Carolina.
