Ohio Golf Journal 2018 Winter Travel Issue
Cold Weather Means Heading South for Golfing & Beaching FRED Altvater The Only thing a Golfer Needs is More Daylight ~ Ben Hogan Welcome to Ohio Golf Journal’s special Winter Travel Issue. With Golfaholics in Ohio looking to find a warm cozy spot to wait out “Ole’ Man Winter” up north, we have included articles on some of our favorite stops in Alabama and Florida. Everyone is familiar with the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail, but did you know the fascination with craft beer has been the impetus to create an Alabama Craft Beer Trail, as well. We were certainly happy to learn more about it and pass our wisdom on to our loyal readers. I have been lucky enough to visit South Alabama on several occasions and it is one of my favorite locales to play golf, lay on the beautiful beach at Gulf Shores, plus visit the various restaurants for the freshest and tastiest seafood, right from the Gulf of Mexico. Mobile has retained its historic charm and has much to offer travelers. Mike May takes us to the Dye Courses at PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie and Wayne Mills writes about a classic golf destination, Innisbrook Resort, near Tampa. My wife and I were privileged to enjoy a wonderful trip around the Sunshine state last year and we are looking forward to spending a few weeks in Florida again this winter. We are pleased to be able to feature some of the best southern golf resorts and hope you give them a try when you put on your “Snow Bird” wings and head south this year. Maybe I will see you down there on the Back 9. Ohio Golf Journal
