MEET THAT NEED )T WAS BILLED AS THE n3PORTIEST #LUB IN THE #OUNTRYo AND WAS A nPAY AS YOU PLAYo HOLE SEMI PUBLIC GOLF COURSE #ALLED INTO ACTION DURING WW II the course served as A TESTING GROUND FOR LOCALLY MADE 7ILLYS *EEPS BEING PREPARED FOR USE IN THE WAR 7ILLYSm ENGINEERS WOULD RACE THE FOUR WHEEL MILITARY VEHICLES UP AND DOWN THE STEEP HILLS AT 2IVERBY (ILLS TO ADEQUATELY PREPARE THEM TO FACE UNEVEN TERRAIN IN %UROPE AND THE 0ACIÚC /VER THE YEARS THE CLUB GREW IN POPULARITY AND A GROUP OF MEMBERS FORMED THE 2IVERBY (ILLS #OUNTRY #LUB with Jim Long serving as the CLUBmS ACCOUNTANT 7HEN THE MEMBERSHIP WANTED TO SELL THE CLUB BUT COULD NOT ÚND A SUITABLE BUYER ,ONG DECIDED it was time to make an INVESTMENT IN THE FUTURE AND BOUGHT THE PROPERTY IN !S 'OLF IN /HIO LIKE THE REST OF THE COUNTRY EXPERIENCED another growth spurt in the mS ,ONG WAS ABLE TO LEVERAGE HIS GOLF BUSINESS and add two more properties TO HIS OPERATION 7OODLAND 'OLF #LUB IN #ABLE WAS PURCHASED IN AND )NDIAN 3PRINGS 'OLF #LUB NEAR -ECHANICSBURG WAS ADDED A YEAR LATER 4HE FOURTH COURSE %AGLES ,ANDING IN /REGON WAS PURCHASED IN Jim Long is now retired and HAS TURNED THE DAY TO DAY operation over to his sons, BUT STILL LIVES NEAR THE GOLF COURSE AND OCCASIONALLY checks in at the various COURSES #ARY A #0!
