It’s September and since the kids are heading back to school it’s time for the fall college golf season. Collegiate golf is different from most sports as their season is split between the fall and spring sessions.
Ohio is blessed to have several top collegiate programs. Here are a few notes from the major colleges from around the state.
Ohio State Buckeyes
Therese Hession heads up both the Men’s and Women’s golf programs at Ohio State and has a talented group of golfers to enter the 2019 Fall Season.
Men:
Justin Wick and Jack Mancinotti are the only Seniors on the 2019 Buckeye Golf Team, but with two Juniors, three Freshmen, plus a couple of transfers, the team should be competitive.
Three Buckeyes received pre-season Big Ten nominations. Laken Hinton, Kevin Stone and Felix Kvarnstrom were recognized as players to watch this fall.
Hinton is a Sophomore and transfer from Augusta University.
Stone is a Junior and made meaningful contributions last season, competing in eight events for the Buckeyes. He went 3-0 in the Jack Nicklaus Invitational match play event and earned a Big Ten Golfer of the Week award.

Since Jay Mosley became the Head Coach in 2015, the Buckeyes have seen great success and will be looking to improve this season.
The Bucks open their Fall Campaign in Toledo for the Inverness Intercollegiate, September 23-24. Find their complete schedule at: https://ohiostatebuckeyes.com/sports/m-golf/schedule/
