N ancy Lopez realized she had a knack for controlling her golf ball at an early age and had a very successful amateur career. She played in her second U.S. Women’s Open at the age of 17 and finished tied for runner- up, while still an amateur. Nancy turned professional late in 1977 and set the LPGA on fire, winning nine titles in 1978, her rookie season. She added another eight victories the following year and became one of the game’s most beloved figures. Through her 26-year career, she won a total of 48 LPGA Tour titles, including three major championships and was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 1987. She was a great champion, but an even a better person, who has become one of the most beloved golfers of all time, man or woman. Even though she couldn’t compete at the inaugural U.S. Senior Women’s Open last summer, she volunteered to be the starter and reveled in simply being a part of the tournament. These days Nancy keeps busy with her various businesses and helping to bring more women to the game of golf. Her Nancy Lopez Golf Adventures provide an opportunity to learn the game from one the greats, while at the same time educate women how to create balance in their personal lives.
