LEAVES ARE FALLING AND COURSES ARE CLOSING FRED ALTVATER You are a Golfaholic if: You are marking the days on your calendar until the 2020 Masters begins. The road to success in golf is always under construction..... The leaves are changing colors, the air is a bit cooler and the days are much shorter, golf season is quickly coming to a close for 2019 in Ohio. With that, it is imperative to get out to a golf course near you and get in those extra holes before cold, snow and wind make play impossible. It also means it’s time to think about making plans for winter golf in warmer climates. Watch for the November Issue when Ohio Golf Journal will highlight several of our favorite southern destinations. Ohio Golf Journal takes pride in the variety of great golf writers that provide articles every month. This month seven different authors have submitted pieces on a wide range of topics. Dave Theoret and Len Ziehm write about Michigan courses. Travel expert, Pam Shaheen alerts our readers to the fact that three courses have been added to the Louisiana Golf Trail and our good friend Jim Grosjean writes about his adventures this summer in Ireland. Count on Ohio Golf Journal to bring you information on the best golf resorts and destinations. We have had some sad news this month that two area courses are closing THEIR DOORS FOR THE ÚNAL TIME 3PUYTEN $UYVAL IN 4OLEDO WAS SOLD TO THE park system and will become an area for all to enjoy with more trees and wetlands created for wildlife. That is the nature of any business, successful operations thrive while others fall by the wayside. Let’s remember the good times and great golf enjoyed at THESE TWO COURSES AND HOPE THE REMAINING COURSES WILL CONTINUE TO ÛOURISH and provide fantastic golf for us in the future.
