Ohio Golf Journal February 2020

OHIO GOLF JOURNAL KICKS OFF ITS SIXTH YEAR FRED ALTVATER YouareaGolfaholic if: YouplaysoBADandaresoFRUSTRATEDafter your last round, you can’t wait to play again tomorrow……. #EternalOptimists Golf is not a game of Fair, why build a Fair Golf Course?..... W OW! Its been five years and 60 issues, since Ohio Golf Journal was introduced as a totally digital publication. Thanks to our quality team of contributors and loyal readers, we hope to be providing great insight and information for golfers for many more years to come. January was a big month for Ohio Golf Journal and Back 9 Report. At our first stop of our 2020 Winter Golf Tour, the PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando, Back 9 Report received an Outstanding Achievement Award from the International Network of Golf (ING). Ohio Golf Journal is also proud of the fact that two of our regular contributors, Ed Travis and Len Ziehm were also recognized by ING. Both Ed and Len are long-time golf writers and provide invaluable insight into the golf industry. In this month’s issue, we feature new golf equipment to help you shoot better scores. Ed Travis looks at all the new equipment available and previews a couple of the best for our readers to consider in 2020. Can you believe Jack Nicklaus is 80 years old? We pay tribute to one of the most loved and hated golf course designers ever, Pete Dye. The Golden Bear learned much from Dye, when they collaborated on several courses over the years. After the PGA Show wrapped up we headed to Innisbrook Resort for the Golf Writers of America Annual Golf Tournament and then headed west to Destin, Florida for some beach time. In all, during this trip, we will visit 15 golf courses, across the southern United States. Watch for trip updates and golf tips on Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIN. Until next month look for me traveling I-10, or on the Back 9 of a course in Alabama, Louisiana, Texas, or Arizona. Pete Dye Ohio Golf Journal
