Rescheduled Tournaments to be played inOhio with Fans By Fred Altvater The Memorial Tournament, Marathon Classic, Bridgestone Senior PLAYERS Championship and the Korn Ferry Tour’s Nationwide Children’s Hospital Championship banded together to work with the Governor’s office to assure these four important events could be conducted in Ohio with fans in attendance. They stressed the importance of having fans attend these important events and organized a plan to protect, players, volunteers and fans during the tournaments. The Memorial Tournament C O V I D - 1 9 forced The Memorial to reschedule from its normal early June date to the third week of July. The week of July 16-19 is its new date and was made possible due to the cancellation of The OPEN Championship. The Governor of Ohio, Mike Dewine ruled that fans would be allowed for the Memorial. It will be the first PGA Tour event, since March, to be held with fans in attendance. Four PGA Tour events, the Charles Schwab Cup Challenge, RBC Heritage, Travelers and the Rocket Mortgage Classic will be held prior to the Memorial, but without fans roaming outside the ropes. In a recent development the John Deere Classic that was to be held the week prior toThe Memorial was cancelled and that event will now be held at Muirfield Village the week prior to The Memorial. Workday assumed sponsorship of the event and it will be held without fans in attendance. The Workday tournament will allow 156 players, but The Memorial will be an Invitational with a limited 120-man field. Ohio Golf Journal
