Jensen Beach Golf Club: How Sweet-ish will this course get? Two entrepreneurs from Sweden, Johan Tumba and Joakim Sabel purchased the struggling Eagle Marsh Golf Club, September, 2019. The course was renamed Jensen Beach Golf Club and with recent renovations is looking better every day. “We have big dreams. We want to be in the top 20 in Florida. We set high goals,’’ said Tumba. “This course was ranked No. 1 in all of America for new courses when it opened (in 1997), and the layout and routing is there.’’ The course was struggling and didn’t have much of a following when Tumba and Sabel purchased it. Sabel insisted on the name change to signal a new direction for the course. By Len Ziehm “There was too bad a rap on the other (name),’’ said Tumba. “It had gone down the drain. We wanted to make a fresh start.” Sabel is a former European PGA professional, and Tumba’s father, Sven was Sweden’s top hockey star, plus he excelled at several sports. Sven competed in eight World Championships and four Winter Olympics as a member of the Swedish Hockey Team and was enshrined to the International Hockey Hall of Fame in 1997. He was also a member of Sweden’s national soccer team, was the Swedish National Champion in water skiing and represented Sweden in international golf competitions. In his spare Ohio Golf Journal
