LET’S GET BACK TO GOLF! FRED ALTVATER You are a Golfaholic if: You got kicked off a closed golf course, while trying to hit shags, during the CV-19 Pandemic. A Quote that fits the times. “Of all the Hazards, fear is the worst”...... The state finally decided COVID-19 should not be a problem on golf courses and reopened them in April. With people being tired of locked down in their homes, plus the weather finally showing signs of spring, golfers were keen to get back to the links. We still can’t hold outings or tournaments yet, but courses are open and golfers can get in their appointed rounds with a few of their buddies. It should be noted that it is important to maintain proper social distancing and obey all posted safety rules, while at the course. Don’t be that guy or group that causes the Health Department to close your course because you disobeyed the rules. There is a light at the end of the tunnel and with golfers returning to the courses, they will be looking for the latest and greatest golf equipment to make their time outdoors even more fun. Back 9 Report TV has conducted several video interviews about interesting products available for use this year. Since Michael Whan became the LPGA Tour commissioner in 2010, that tour has seen incredible growth and prosperity. He is the man directly responsible for that turn around and we feature him this month in Ohio Golf Journal. For golf travel this month, Mike May takes us on a trip down the Pete Dye Golf Trail in Indiana and Len Ziehm extolls the virtues of Myrtle Beach. PGA HOPE has given Hope to thousands of military veterans that felt they had little hope left after their service careers ended. Rich O’Brien explains the stellar work that program is providing for our military heroes. Of course, we can’t forget our Ohio Golf News segment and Belinda Theoret has even provided a review of Vineyard Vines apparel lines, that will keep every golfer comfortable and looking like a pro on the golf course. Thank God the courses are open, it’s warming up and we can get back to golf!! Hopefully, I’ll see you on the Back 9. Lee Trevino Ohio Golf Journal
