FRED ALTVATER You are a Golfaholic if: you fell off your couch when Dustin Johnson made the putt to tie Jon Rahm on the 72nd hole and again when Rahm drained a 66-footer to win the BMW playoff. We all have the power to influence somebody. . . in five minutes you can change someone’s life. If you embrace it, it can be a powerful thing....... This has been such a crazy year! We spent two months quarantined in our homes and most of us have been wary ventured too far from home since the middle of March. While health departments and governments struggle with coronavirus still today, golf has been leading the way and demonstrating to the general public that it is safe to venture out and even take a road trip or two. A word to the wise that you should maintain safe distancing and the use of your ever-faithful mask is advised. Len Ziehm has two travel pieces in this month’s issue and he found those very facts to be true. You can travel safely, but it does require some planning and patience. He spent 22 days on the road visiting Georgia, Kentucky, Ohio, Michigan and Indiana and lives today to talk about it. The growth numbers in golf throughout the pandemic are staggering. Still the fastest growing segment in golf is the number of women that are finding the game. Our intrepid golf equipment reviewer, Ed Travis writes about two golf products made expressly with the ladies in mind. Professional golf has resumed full speed ahead and Ohio played a huge role in getting golf going again. Fall is just around the corner and is normally my favorite time of year to get in a few rounds.
