Ali Green Wins 98th Ohio Women’s Amateur Katie Hallinan defeated 2020 Women’s Ohio Amateur Champions Kristin Jamieson one up to advance to the final match. In the other semi-final Ali Green defeated Jenn David 3-2. Hallinan pushed Green to the very end, but Green survived with a one up win. Green played collegiately at Ashland and is the Head Coach for Lakota East High School Girls Golf Team. Last year she became the first female to compete in Cincinnati’s Tony Blom Metropolitan Amateur Championship and took the defending champion to the 18th hole before being beaten. Cara Heisterkamp Wins 2021 Ohio Junior Girls Championship Cara Heisterkamp of Westlake shot a 6-under par 138 to capture the 45th Ohio Junior Girls Championship at Marion Country Club by five shots over Dublin’s Annika Namjunath. Cara has been an avid golfer since she was three years old and will be a sophomore at Rocky River Magnificat. The weather was an issue both days of the championship and Heisterkamp fought through the challenge. “I had to put the umbrella up and wear a coat. It was restricting on the swing. It was a very hard two days. There were lots of mental challenges for sure.” Spotleson Wins 3rd Ohio Women’s Mid-Am Title They have only been holding the Ohio Women’s Mid-Am Championship for five years, but this year Suzi Spotleson defeated Brit Platt to win it for the third time. In June Spotleson also won the Senior Division of the inaugural Northeast Ohio Women’s Amateur Championship hosted by the Northern Ohio Golf Association. Ohio State’s Max Moldovan Sets NEW Scoring Record in Southern Amateur Two-time OHSAA State Champion and now a sophomore at Ohio State, Max Moldovan shattered a 28-year-old scoring record held by Justin Leonard to win the Southern Amateur at Old Waverly Golf Club in West Point, Mississippi. Moldovan fired rounds of 64-68-65-67 and didn’t make a bogey in the final 36 holes. His 20-under par performance bested the previous scoring record by six shots.
