Ohio Golf Journal January 2021

Welcome to 2021 FRED ALTVATER You are a Golfaholic if: You Played More Golf and Bought More New Equipment in 2020 then usual, during the Pandemic. A Great Shot is When you Pull it OFF. A Smart Shot is when you don’t have the Guts to Try It........ I am not sure when I have been so excited to get rid of the OLD and bring in the NEW !! Although 2020 was a good year for golf in general, it brought pain, suffering and financial hardship for much of the world’s population. Many found golf to be a sport that could get them out of the house and still maintain ‘social distancing’ rules. The number of rounds of golf played this year, plus increased sales of golf related equipment, hit all-time highs. Ohio Golf Journal is entering its seventh year and is excited to bring our readers more golf news, information, tips, travel and opinion. As always, the PGA Tour will begin the season in sunny Hawaii with a pair of events and move to the West Coast. Fans will not be allowed but expect the tour to begin permitting a limited number of fans inside the gates as the season progresses and the vaccine becomes more readily available to the masses. We list a few story lines Golfaholics will be following in 2021. French Lick is featured on our cover this month. It is one of the best resorts in America and is an easy drive from anywhere in the Midwest. It combines historic charm with modern amenities, as well as, great golf. Also, Ed Travis reviews four new golf products that should be in every Golfaholic’s bag this year. Len Ziehm gives us news about several popular golf resorts and Mike May tells us about a few gastronomical delights that you don’t want to miss if you are heading through Georgia. As always, we appreciate any comments our readers may have and strive to make each issue entertaining and informative. I’m headed to Florida, I hope I see you on the Back 9 somewhere that is sunny and warm. ~ Phil Mickelson Ohio Golf Journal
