Funny, But True Stories from the Links I played in a medal play event a few years ago and was paired with one of the slowest golfers I had ever encountered. It was a miserable wet, rainy day, plus we were playing an unfamiliar course. To top it off, it had been saturated from the continuous rain and carts were allowed on the path only. This player would walk from the cart to his ball, across the entire fairway with only his range finder, walk back to the cart grab a club, go back to his ball, change his mind and return to the cart for yet another club. After this happened on several occasions, my playing companion had had enough. It is probably a good thing she did not have a loaded weapon in her golf bag, because she would have used it. She became so incensed at this gentlemen’s complete lack of course etiquette, that she called the clubhouse from her cell phone and reported her own group for slow play! Several competitors in this event complained about this particular individual’s inconsiderate actions and he was asked to never to enter the tournament again. I have told that tale many times in the 19th hole and cannot help but laugh every time.
