Bob Sowards Does It AGAIN!! Ohio Golf Hall of Fame member Bob Sowards, Director of Instruction at Kinsale Golf & Fitness Club, won the Senior PGA Professional Championship at PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, Florida for the second time. NOPGA Wins Inaugural Junior Ohio Cup Junior golfers from the Northern Ohio Section of the PGA won the inaugural Junior Ohio Cup at Westfield Country Club. The event pits junior boys and girls between the ages of 12 and 19 from both the Northern and Southern Ohio sections of the PGA in a Ryder Cup-like event with teams competing in both FourBall and Singles formats. The NOPGA team comfortably won with a 16-8 total score. The NOPGA girls won seven of their eight matches to lead the team. Sowards carded rounds of 67-70-69-66 to finish six strokes ahead of runner-up Jerry Haas and pocket the $27,000 first-place check. Belmont Country Club Assistant, Mike Stone, who was the medalist in the Lima Shawnee qualifier, finished T-38. Other Ohio Pros in the field included, Steve Parker, Gary Trivisonno, Tom Atchison and Gary Rusnak.
