STEVE PARKER INDUCTED INTO THE NOPGA HALL-OFFAME Steve Parker, a past president of the Northern Ohio PGA and Director of Golf at Portage Country Club, was inducted into the Northern Ohio PGA Hall-ofFame last month. Parker has held numerous positions within the PGA throughout his professional career and is currently a PGA District 5 Director. He began his professional career in 1996 after twice earning all-Mid-American Conference honors at Kent State. He is a former winner of the 1985 Ohio Junior Championship, 2022 Senior Toledo Open, 2017 Denny Shute Senior Match Play, and the 1996 NOPGA Assistant’s Championship. He was a five-time qualifier to the PGA Professional Championship and a two-time qualifier to the PGA Senior Professional Championship. SOPGA Grabs Third Consecutive Ohio Cup Held at Worthington Hills Country Club, the team from the Southern Ohio PGA (SOPGA) easily defeated the Northern Ohio PGA (NOPGA) pros, 20.5-11.5 in the 27th Ohio Cup. It was the third consecutive win for the SOPGA, its longest winning streak in the Ryder Cuplike event and reduced the NOPGA’s all-time lead to 16-11 in the series. The SOPGA dominated both the Fourball and Foursomes sessions by the same 5.5 to 2.5 scores, giving them a six-shot lead heading to singles .
