Three Ohio women earned spots in the U.S. Women’s Mid-Am held at Norwood Hills Golf Club near St. Louis last month.
The Ohio qualifier was held in August at Portage Country Club in Akron. Alex Carl from Cincinnati fired a 70 to take medalist honors. Ann Miles from Dublin finished three shots back for runner-up and Akron’s Olivia Hochschwender tied for third with a 74.
In the first two rounds of stroke play, at Norwood Hills, Miles posted 74-80, 10-over-par to tie for 27th and make it to match play.
The cut for the Top 64 came at +15 with seven women forced to playoff for the final six spots. Carl (+16) and Hochschwender (+17) both finished just outside the Top 64 to continue to the match play portion of the tournament.
Miles was defeated in the first round of match play by Caroline Ellington from North Carolina.
