Even though COVID continues to rear its ugly head and is preventing large groups from congregating. The distribution of the new vaccine provides a light at the end of the tunnel and a promise of a return to a normal world.

The Solheim Cup is continuing to plan for a full contingent of international fans to watch the biennial competition between the best women golfers from Europe versus America in Toledo.

The event is scheduled for Labor Day Weekend and will follow all COVID safety protocols. Practice rounds will begin August 31 with the actual competition scheduled for, September 4-6. The two-man team matches will be contested in morning and afternoon sessions on Friday and Saturday. The 12 exciting singles matches will bring the games to its conclusion on Sunday.

The planning committee is expecting thousands of fans to attend the event at the Inverness Club. It takes hundreds of volunteers to conduct one of the world’s largest sporting events spread over hundreds of acres. Solheim Cup planners are seeking volunteers to help carry out a successful and safe tournament.

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be inside the ropes at a professional golf event? Being a volunteer is the answer. The Solheim Cup provides the perfect opportunity to get close to the action and actually stand beside the players.

Volunteers receive several complimentary items. A Solheim Cup hat and jacket, plus a full week’s pass and complimentary parking are just a few of the items supplied to volunteers. One of the more interesting ideas for this year’s Solheim Cup will be a joint tee box for numbers 1 and 10. Normally the tee box is a massive expanse of grass that from the clubhouse to the Pro shop. This year the women will be completely surrounded by a tall grandstand, when they try to avoid the bunkers that split the first and tenth fairways.

Fans rush to fill the stands early at both the starting tee boxes and this year the huge arena-like stadium seating will accommodate more fans than ever to the joint tee.

The excitement on Sunday during the Singles Matches never fails to make the hair stand up on the back of your neck and chills run down your spine.
