Myrtle Beach has long been a popular golf destination for Buckeyes seeking warmer climes, sun drenched beaches and verdant golf courses. The area boasts over 100 courses, but none more Magical than the Wizard and Man-O-War at the Mystical Resort.
Claude Pardue previously owned two courses prior to building these two 18-hole championship courses in Myrtle Beach. They are distinctively different and sit right in the heart of Myrtle Beach, close to all the action and entertainment.
The resort is conveniently located just five minutes from the airport. With direct flights from most major metropolitan airports, a traveling golfer can arrive by noon, play 18 and still have time for a tasty meal, or an evening stroll on the beach.
Man-O-War, designed by Dan Maples, includes back-to-back island greens and is consistently rated one of the five best courses in the Myrtle Beach area. Pardue specifically chose this plot of land so that Man-O-War could be built around a 100-acre lake that affects play on most holes.
The clubhouse, actually built over the water, is reminiscent of a fishing cabin, with a fully stocked pro shop for all your golfing needs, as well as, a grill for a light lunch, or snack at the turn.
Man-O-War has long been a favorite of visitors to Myrtle Beach and in 2017 was named “Golf Course of the Year” by the Myrtle Beach Area Golf Course Owner’s Association.
The Wizard Golf Course is a more forgiving resort-style golf course. The final three holes play over and along the lake making for an exciting finish to your round. The course is a joy to play and perfect for higher handicappers.
Myrtle Beach sits in the low country of South Carolina, but during the construction of the Wizard over 1 million yards of dirt were moved to create mounding, movement and elevation changes that set it apart from other nearby courses.
The Wizard Clubhouse was designed to resemble a castle and its high walls can be seen from every hole on the course.
Claude Pardue, owner of the Mystical Golf Resort told us,
“The Wizard and Man-O-War courses provide two completely different experiences.”
