Max Moldovan from Uniontown, Ohio, started the summer golf season with a second place at the AJGA’s Memorial Junior hosted by Sung Hyun Park at Ohio State’s Scarlet course.
“It was great to play well at the course where I’m going to play every day for the next few years in college,” Moldovan said. “Winning would’ve been even better there, but not winning gave me the motivation to play well and win at Polo.”
Max’s AJGA 2019 highlights include:
· First-time Rolex Junior All-American
· Won Polo Golf Junior Classic at Liberty National in the event’s return to match play
· Three-time AJGA career champion
· Undefeated in Wyndham Cup East Team matches (4-0-0)
· Finished runner-up in two events: the Memorial Junior hosted by Sung Hyun Park and Junior Invitational at Sage Valley Golf Club
· Finished T-4 at The Junior PLAYERS Championship at TPC Sawgrass
· Collected six top-10 national junior golf finishes in 2019
· Won the Ohio Amateur Championship and Played in the U.S. Amateur at Pinehurst
· Selected to 2019 United States Junior Presidents Cup Team
Plus, in October, Max finished runner up in Division I of the OHSAA State Championship.
While there is not true indicator of a successful professional career in golf, former AJGA alumni that have gone on to success in the game include: Phil Mickelson, Justin Thomas, Jordan Spieth, Tiger Woods, Rickie Fowler, Brooks Koepka, Lexi Thompson, Anna Nordqvist, Paula Creamer, Morgan Pressel, and Inbee Park.
Max has already committed to Ohio State University beginning in the Fall of 2021.
