My wife and I have finally returned home after extensive travel from Florida to Arizona. During the trip we visited several fantastic golf resorts and points of interest on the Gulf Coast and throughout the Southwestern United States.

We especially enjoyed our time in Biloxi, Southern Alabama, Lake Charles, Louisiana, Santa Fe, New Mexico and Sedona, Arizona.

Biloxi, Mississippi has beautiful beaches, fantastic seafood and wonderful golf opportunities. Magnolia Grove and Lakewood Resort in Southern Alabama are both stops on the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail. The Golden Nugget in Lake Charles, Louisiana will be hosting the Korn Ferry Tour’s Lake Charles Championship at the end of the month.

All of these locations on the Gulf are perfect for a golf getaway, or just a relaxing vacation for the entire family.

Santa Fe sits at 7,000 feet above sea level and was first settled in the 1,600’s by Spanish missionaries. It was a major stopping point for settlers heading to California and that history has been preserved.

The beauty and spiritual aspect of Sedona, Arizona is undeniable. The views, as you first drive into the area, will take your breath away. Hiking the trails up and around the red rock mountains will fill your soul with an energy that sticks with you long after you leave.

This was a trip of a lifetime for both of us and we are grateful to the people that helped make it a reality.

In addition to our travel adventure, we feature the Arthur Hills Golf Trail. We want everyone to know about the great golf available in Southeast Michigan and Northwest Ohio.

Two of the hottest topics in the golf world right now are the Distance Report from the USGA, plus the proposed Premier Golf League that seeks to create a World Golf Tour. Our contributors take on both issues and offer their take on their solution.

We are glad to be home and with warmer weather around Toledo in March, I hope I see you on the Back 9.
