John Angelo and Marcus Carano earned their third straight trip to the U.S. Amateur Four Ball Championship by besting Andrew Bailey and Kevin Carlin in a 7-Hole playoff. Both teams tied for second place at seven-under par in the qualifier held at Catawba Island Club.

Carano drained a 30-foot putt to end the drama.

Tournament medalists Drew Miller and Lorenzo Pinili birdied their final hole to finish at 8-under par and finish alone in first place

“Out the gate we started with an eagle,” Pinili said. “So that got us off to a good start. We had a good start. We were -4 under through five (holes).”

The two groups will head to the Kiawah Island Club in South Carolina, May 20-24, for the U.S. Amateur Four-Ball Championship.
