Another Buckeye with big aspirations and someone to watch in future professional golf tournaments is Max Moldovan. The graduating senior who helped lead his team to the NCAA Semi-Finals has earned status on the PGA Tour Americas from finishing inside the Top 25 in the PGA Tour University rankings.
PGA Tour University is designed to streamline the process for college players to advance to the professional level, while also rewarding those who honor their college commitments. Players must play on the NCAA Division I level and complete a minimum of four years in college to be eligible for PGA Tour University.
Moldovan ended his record-setting career with the lowest scoring average in OSU history at 71.25. He recorded the most career rounds at par or better (86) and the most career rounds in the 60s (48). He had four career wins, 19 top 10s and 31 top 20s.
In addition to a successful end to his collegiate career, Max has been recognized as PING All-American, All-Big Ten performer, plus Academic All-Big Ten honors.
Moldovan saw success before attending Ohio State. He won the 2019 Ohio Amateur, was a two-time Ohio High School State Champion 2017 and 2018, plus was the 2019 AJGA Player of the Year.
Also this year, Max qualified for the U.S. Open at Pinehurst for the third consecutive year and he made it was his inaugural start as a professional. Unfortunately he failed to make the cut at the difficult Pinehurst No. 2, but watch for Max to make it to the bit tour soon.
