Welcome to the August Issue of Ohio Golf Journal. We hope you are enjoying the great summer weather for a few rounds on your favorite golf course.

We had the opportunity to visit a new driving range concept at Long Shots near Troy last month and we came away very impressed. This restaurant has taken the TopGolf concept, but improved it immensely with a real driving range, plus corn hole and ice cream for the entire family. We had a great time and urge you to visit with your family.

August is traditionally the hottest month of the year, in Ohio and we have a few tips to beat the heat on the golf course provided by Franciscan Health. Be safe out there! Wear protective clothing, drink lots of water and know your limitations.

This month we feature BOYNE Golf in Northern Michigan. It is one of our favorite resorts, especially in the summertime. With 11 courses, at three beautiful locations, USA Today designated them as the best golf destination in the country.

In September, the Ryder Cup will be contested at one of the most difficult golf courses in the world, Bethpage Black. In this issue, Shot Scope provides statistical data to help you understand the course the Ryder Cuppers will struggle to tame.

Finally with winter approaching, you may want to consider installing a golf simulator in your man cave. Ed Travis provides us with a few tips on simulators and how they can help improve your game even if the weather doesn’t cooperate.

August and September are great months for golf in Ohio, I hope I see you on the Back 9 soon.
