The Dana Open Presented by Marathon announced that it distributed $400,000 to 19 Toledo-area children’s charities. In total, the annual LPGA tournament has donated over $13.2 million to more than 215 northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan children’s charities since its inception in 1984.
“Thanks to the continued financial support of many local companies this year’s Dana Open presented by Marathon produced another successful LPGA tournament that will benefit 19 Toledo area children’s charities,” stated Alex Gerken, Toledo City President, Fifth Third Bank and Chairman of Toledo Classic Inc. “We want to thank all of the sponsors, volunteers and fans that supported this year’s tournament for helping the us achieve these positive results for the region.”
“2022 was an amazing year for the tournament,” stated Executive Director Judd Silverman. “Some of the highlights included four days of exciting golf at Highland Meadows by the greatest women golfers in the world that culminated with a bright new champion in Gaby Lopez, a sold-out “Evening with David Feherty & Gary Koch” at the Valentine Theater, four successful Pro-Am events, the 6th annual Women’s Summit at the Glass City Center attended by over 800 Toledo area businesswomen, and a concert at Huntington Center featuring Girl Named Tom attended by over 6,000 people.”
