November brings shorter days, cooler temperatures, the beginning of the Holiday Season and hopefully the end to 2020, as well as, COVID.
This year has been a challenge, but through it all the American People, as well as, golfers have remained strong. The Golf industry and golf course operators have had one of their best years ever, because golf is a game that can safely bring people together.
Even though Ireland, England and Wales are re-closing courses and football stadiums remain empty, the PGA Tour allowed a limited number of fans to attend tournaments in Bermuda and Houston. The prediction is that larger fan attendance won’t happen until the ‘Florida Swing’ in March.
Throughout this year, golf has been a leader, not only in professional sports, but in staying open so that cooped up sports fans can have something to enjoy with friends and family.
Golf resorts are open. In October we traveled to Firestone Country Club in Akron and French Lick Resort in Southern Indiana. We felt safe at both and with limits to the number of occupants in the hotels, there were no incidents of overcrowding in the dining areas, or on the course.
Len Ziehm penned a piece for Ohio Golf Journal back in August, “Don’t Be Afraid to Golf Travel, Even Now,” and that sentiment has never been more true.
As colder weather approaches the Northern section of the country, golfers will begin to head South.
Take the normal precautions, drive safe and DON’T BE AFRAID!
