The 101st Women’s Ohio State Amateur Championship was held last month at Belmont Hills Country Club. Gabby Woods survived the battle of attrition and earned a berth in the U.S. Women’s Amateur at Southern Hills in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Gabby started fast grabbing 1-up lead after the first hole of the championship match against the No. 3 seed Cara Heisterkamp. She expanded her lead throughout the front nine, winning holes 4, 6, and 7, and led Heisterkamp 4-up at the turn. On the back nine, Woods added two more wins while Heisterkamp could only win one hole, to give Woods the 5 & 4 victory.

This was a big win for Woods, Heisterkamp is a highly talented amateur and member of the University of Indiana Women’s Golf Team.

Gabby is a member of the University of Findlay Women’s Golf Team and was a part of the 2022 team that won the NCAA DII National Team Championship. Individually she finished runner-up at NCAA DII Individual Championship in 2023 and won the DII Individual title this year.

These were two of the best women amateurs in the state and Woods won convincingly, this time.
