Most every golfer is wants to improve their game and some are even serious about it. They practice religiously, take lessons, play at every opportunity and presuming they are not adopting bad swing habits, may gradually see their scores decrease.
Ben Hogan famously said the secret to getting better was to, “dig it out of the dirt.” That’s exactly how it was when I learned this frustrating game.
Times have changed and thousands of golfers have found a home simulator matched with a launch monitor is the most effective route to lower scores.
A study, recently published by Ace Indoor Golf, a simulator manufacturer, showed almost 90% of simulator owners showed improvement in their own, as well as their family’s game.
Another important statistic demonstrated that 80% of those surveyed realized lower scores of 5.27 strokes per 18-hole round.
Shaving more than two strokes per nine holes off your handicap is a significant number.
For serious golfers an investment of a few thousand dollars, for a simulator/launch monitor installation, is an investment in the future.
A side benefit of using a simulator is that nearly half, 44% of the respondents claimed they added significant distance with every club.
Because the personal simulator is so accessible, more than two-thirds reported that practice was fun and they used their simulator a minimum of ten times per month. They could use it whenever they wanted regardless of weather, time of day, or the season.
Launch monitors provide instant feedback and help to discern what parts of your game need improvement.
After seeing the results from the survey I talked with Jay Hubbard, Ace Indoor’s Marketing & E-commerce Director, who told me,
“Golf simulators and launch monitors are a great way to improve your game. Simulator use encourages more play and helps get more people into the game by allowing them to grow their skills and ability off-course indoors or on a driving range in a non-threatening environment. They are fun to use, and features like club path, launch angle, spin, and carry distance are easy-to-understand metrics that can help a player dramatically improve their game. For example, understanding your real carry distance for your clubs is the difference between a greenside bunker and putting for birdie or par, which makes the game more fun.”
The survey proves that golfers experienced a significant improvement from installing a simulator.
