Lakota East Captures 5th at New High School National Tournament Held at Disney World

The inaugural High School Golf National Invitational was held at the end of June at Walt Disney World’s Palm and Magnolia Courses. The invitation-only event was comprised of 300 of the top boys and girls high school golfers from across the country.

Aiden Thomas of New Mexico posted two scores of 65-70 for a nine-under par total to win by a one stroke over James Imai from Massachusetts. 

Lakota East High School’s Boys Golf team, from Liberty Township in Ohio, was invited to participate and finished fifth overall, out of 23 teams, in the team competition, out of 23 teams. Peyton Houston carded 74-73 for a T-19, Brock Aten was T-29, Griffin King T-51, Ty Sylia T-73 and Chris Poppe was T-108.

Head coach Jeff Combs said,

“We were very excited for the opportunity to play in the inaugural High School Golf National Invitational Championship. What a great venue with what was the best competition for our team.”
