Last month I visited a unique twist to the traditional driving range. Of course, there was the usual mats, balls, plus a variety of targets at which to aim, but Long Shots, in Troy, Ohio, is not your grandfather’s practice range.
TopTracer technology is available at several of Long Shots’ covered hitting bays to provide feedback on every shot. Distance, ball flight, ball speed, plus other numbers are available to help better understand your particular swing and accelerate your improvement.
Waitresses take your food and beverage orders, plus there are comfortable chairs at every hitting bay, as well as a high table to enjoy your feast while you watch other members of your party doing their best Tiger Woods’ impressions.
This is a place for the entire family. In addition to the full-service golf range and restaurant, there are several corn hole boards for lively family competitions.
The restaurant serves a delicious menu of favorites, including burgers, pizza and more. The fully stocked bar has every conceivable adult beverage to drown your sorrows, after too many bad shots.
Once the ball hitting is complete and dinner consumed, visit their ice cream bar for a cool treat. This was a highlight for my grandchildren, plus I enjoyed it too.

Long Shots has improved on the TopGolf concept with an actual driving range to be able to watch your full ball flight and use the TopTracer technology to improve your swing.
Next time you want to hit a few balls and enjoy a unique dining experience, head to Long Shots in Troy, Ohio.
