LPGA Tour Invades Toledo for Marathon Classic

The Marathon Classic Presented by Dana will be held at Highland Meadows Golf Club in Sylvania and will feature many of the top women professionals from around the world.

One of the most popular women in golf, Lexi Thompson will be in Toledo trying to pocket the first-place check, from the $1.75 million purse. She will be joined by U.S. Women’s Open Champion,  Jeonguen Lee6, Minjee Lee and Brooke Henderson.

Lee6 sits atop the LPGA Tour money list with $1.55 million, Lexi is third, Henderson fifth and Minjee Lee is sixth.

LPGA Tour rookies Maria Fassi and Jennifer Kupcho are also in the field. They have become household names, since they finished 1-2 at the Augusta National Women’s Amateur, in April

On Tuesday, the Marathon Classic will host the first-ever Women’s Summit at 10:30. Amy Robach and Dan Nevins, a military veteran will speak, plus attendees will be treated to a yoga class.

The LPGA tour players especially love to interact with kids and the “Putts N Par Family Zone” will be open 10 AM-4 PM Thursday through Sunday.

For Adults, the best spot to watch the action at the Marathon Classic is at the par-3 14th hole in the Labatt Blue Light Party Deck, where the atmosphere is always rowdy.  In addition to free Labatt Beer products, watch the caddy races and vie for LPGA player giveaways. The Labatt Blue Light Party Deck is the place to be to meet friends or entertain business associates.

Saturday is College Day and all college students will be admitted free with their college ID.

Since its inception in 1984, the event has generated over $10.8 million in donations to 170 Northwest Ohio Children’s Charities.
