The course is a tale of two nines. The Valley, or first nine, is relatively flat and plays along the floor of the valley. The Mountain Nine features elevations that rise and drop over 800 feet. Both courses offer wonderful panoramic views of the valley and beyond.
Two memorable holes on the Valley Nine are the 430-yard par 4 third hole and the uphill par 3 ninth, that plays at least one club longer than the yardage suggests.
The last three holes of the Mountain Nine are a blast to play. Number 16 is a 360-yard par 4 that plays uphill; way uphill. A good drive will leave a mid to long iron into a well undulated green protected on the left side by a bunker.
The green at No. 17 cannot be seen and the drop from the tee to the green is over 100 feet. Long hitters will want to have a go at cutting the dog-leg and driving this very short par 4, but beware, the green slopes severely downhill from front to back and is nearly impossible to hold. A 200-yard hybrid or iron followed by a short wedge is the wise play here.
The par 5 18th is only 489 yards from the White tees and all downhill. A creek crosses the fairway 270 yards out and continues up the right side to the green. Eagles and birdies are possible on this finishing hole.

Maggie Valley proves that mountain golf course doesn’t need a lot of elevation change to make it memorable. The greens are not as fast as others in the area, but the undulation makes them every bit as challenging.
