The Northern Ohio Golf Association (NOGA) has a rich history of promoting and preserving the game of golf in Northeast Ohio.
It was originally established in 1917 to conduct inter-club competitions among the original eight member clubs. NOGA is proud of its association with the USGA and dedication to serving over 22,000 private and public golfers for the last 100 years.
NOGA now includes 45 private clubs, with approximately 9,000 members, in addition to, serving more than 13,000 public golfers at more than 100 public facilities.
On September 23rd they hosted a Centennial Celebration at The Country Club at Pepper Pike. Events scheduled for the day included and 18-hole two best ball tournament with both men and women competing with full handicaps.
After golf the guests were treated to a cocktail reception, dinner and live entertainment.
Like every golf tournament this event had a charitable aspect. Proceeds from the Centennial Golf & Gala benefitted the NOGA Charities & Foundation’s life-changing Return To Golf® program, which helps physically disabled adults, children and wounded service veterans improve physically, mentally and, most importantly, socially, through the innovative combination of rehabilitation-based fitness training and golf specific recreational therapy.
This is another example of golfers donating their time and money to help charitable organizations. The golf industry generates over $3 Billion annually through events such as this and provides needed funds to help charities carry on their important work.
Congratulations to the Northern Ohio Golf Association for serving golfers for 100 years and we hope for continued success for another 100 years.
