The U.S. Amateur was held at Pebble Beach and Spyglass Hill. In all 312 amateurs competed in the stroke-play to earn a spot in the 64-man match play.

Wetterich was the low qualifier at OSU’s Scarlet Course, while Wetherill was medalist at the Camargo Club in Cincinnati. Johnson earned medalist honors at Shaker Heights Country Club near Cleveland. |
Johnson tied for 64th, but failed to survive a 24-for-one-spot playoff to advance to match play.
Will Grimmer fired two rounds of 73-72 to finish T-36 to make to the match play portion of the tournament, but fell in the first round of match play to Isiah Salinda from California.
Norwegian Victor Hovland, who plays collegiately at Oklahoma State University, outlasted David Bling to win the Havemeyer Trophy at the 118th U.S. Amateur.
