Tiger Woods has a new golf venture, he partnered with PopStroke, a company based in Jupiter, Florida. The partnership was, announced in October, 2019 and the first PopStroke facility opened near PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie.
After our initial visit, we were impressed.
“It’s much more than a souped up version of miniature golf.”
The Port St. Lucie location consists of two 18-hole “miniature’’ courses, Kahn Preserve and Jackson Trap, named for the designer, Jackson Kahn. Both have artificial turf putting surfaces. The Kahn course, the easier of the two, is perfect for beginners, plus it is wheelchair and stroller accessible.
The Jackson is slightly more challenging with 36 bunkers, false fronts and severe breaks on the greens. PopStroke, however, is less about competition and more about pure fun, but don’t expect a clown’s mouth. None of the features found on more traditional miniature courses are present except for the last putt. Once you hole out on the 18th the ball rolls directly back to the reception desk.
The ambience is pleasant. Attractive landscaping provides the look and feel of a real golf course, only in a miniature version. PopStroke is open from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. seven days a week, plus the illumination lighting makes it accessible after dark. Don’t worry about bad weather, indoor facilities allow for continued entertainment.
There’s much more to PopStroke than just “miniature’’ golf. The course has a jumbotron, plus twelve big screen televisions are scattered about the facility to keep track of your favorite sports teams. There are also three golf simulators, as well as, a sports bar with full service dining available.
Golf, Food, Drinks and Big Screens! What could be Better?
Woods, who lives in Florida joined PopStroke in 2019. His partners include, business founder Greg Bartoli and Peter Bevacqua, President of NBC Sports and former CEO of the PGA of America.
Tiger merchandise is available in the welcome center, plus his is pictured on the PopStroke website. His involvement is more than in name only.
“Some of my happiest memories are spending time with my pops on the golf course having putting contests,’’ Woods said after his involvement was announced. “I’m looking forward to others enjoying time with their kids at PopStroke.’’
A second PopStroke opened in Fort Myers, Florida, in August, plus a third is planned to open in Scottsdale, Arizona, in 2021.
Who knows this could be the next BIG Thing in Golf!
