In March Balcar won the Yuengling Open at Fort Myers Country Club by draining a three-foot putt on the final hole to claim the title.
“I knew I had to make it, obviously,” said Balcar, an assistant golf professional at Toledo’s Brandywine Country Club. “Thankfully, my coaches have ingrained in me the importance of putting. After every round, I putt two-and-a-half footers around the hole. I just kind of went back to that state and tried to make the three-footer, just like the drill.”
It was his fourth appearance at the Yuengling Open and he pocketed $13,000 for the title.
“I love the atmosphere of this place,” he said. “It brings the dream alive for us pros that aren’t on tour. I mean, this is what we imagine Korn Ferry, PGA Tour events are like, people watching, people excited. We want to entertain them. It’s just a great event.”
In May, he tied for first place with Blake Sattler in a Northern Ohio Section PGA event the Club Car/Pepsi Stableford Stroke Play at Fairlawn Golf Club in Akron.
He and his partner Kyle Buzaki finished third in the Mid-Summer Pro-Pro Jumble at Fox Madow Country Club in Medina.
Last month he Monday-Qualified for the ISCO Championship, a PGA Tour event held at Hurstbourne Country Club in Louisville, Kentucky. Unfortunately, he missed the cut, but gained a ton of experience.
