The road to success is always under construction………..Arnold Palmer
A Google search revealed over 158,000 golf training aids. Online retailer, Amazon offers more than 1,000 items alone. The game we play can be very rewarding, but it can also be the most maddening and frustrating activity, we can inflict on ourselves.
I have been playing since the age of seven, taught by my father, who loved the game. Even though he was never better than a bogey golfer. He understood the subtleties and rewards of golf best explained by Arnold Palmer,
“Golf is deceptively simple and endlessly complicated. It satisfies the soul and frustrates the intellect.”
Thus, every golfer’s fascination with training aids. The line should be drawn, when we realize rather than training ourselves to hit the ball better, we are actually trying to “buy a game.” This doesn’t work with clubs and certainly doesn’t work with the various apparatus we purchase in hopes of suddenly getting rid of our slice, adding 20 yards to our drives, or always getting the girl.
I recently had an informative discussion with Fernando Vega and Michael Gish from Total Golf Trainer. They have designed a simple training aid that easily shows, even the most inapt golfer, the proper swing plane, impact position and finish. It is effective and certainly is among the best training aids on the market.
The basic TGT-V2 rests on the club grip allowing the rear tab to fit into the vent hole at the end of the grip. Two Velcro strips hold it in place and set up is completed by inserting a flexible rod with red ball on the end into the base and bent to the side, or straight depending on what you want to practice.
The simple, easy-to-read instructions are included in the package, plus online at TotalGolfTrainer.com. Multiple videos are available that demonstrate how the Total Golf Trainer can fix any swing fault from proper setup, casting from the top, or proper shaft lean at impact.
My fatal fought-it-for-years swing fault has been taking the club to much inside, while at the same time rotating the forearms putting the clubface into an open position. I have worked on this frustrating swing-killer incessantly and the TGT-V2 immediately revealed my problem, plus gave me the correct takeaway movement.
In addition, it also fixed the same problem when chipping. Of course, not every chip goes in but virtually everyone stops within two putt, or one putt range, which removes pressure from those important stroke-saving shots around the green.
The best part is that the Total Golf Trainer is affordable. Visit the web site, https://totalgolftrainer.com/ view the videos and you will be convinced.
